The expert meeting of the Parties to the Agreement on Use of Freight Wagons in International Traffic (hereinafter referred to as meeting) was held in the OSJD Committee in Warsaw from 3 to 5 April 2024 in compliance with the Work Plan of the OSJD Commission on Freight Traffic for 2024 in the field of updating the Agreement on Use of Freight Wagons in International Traffic (hereinafter referred to as PGW Agreement).

According to the Work Plan of the OSJD Commission on Transport Law, an expert meeting of the OSJD Commission on Transport Law on SMGS issues was held in Astana (Republic of Kazakhstan) from 2 to 5 April 2024.

The meeting was attended by experts from the following SMGS member countries: Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Belarus, Hungary, Georgia, Republic of Kazakhstan, People’s Republic of China, Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Republic of Poland, Russian Federation and the OSJD Committee.

In accordance with the Work Plan of the OSJD Commission on Transport Policy and Development Strategy, a meeting of the AWG on the statistical issues in railway transport was held at the OSJD Committee (Warsaw) from 19 till 20 March 2024, which was attended by the AWG members from: the Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, People’s Republic of China, Republic of Latvia, Slovak Republic, Republic of Uzbekistan, Republic of Estonia, as well as the representatives of the OSJD Committee.

In accordance with the Work Plan of the OSJD Commission on Transport Law for 2024, on 12-14 March 2024, the OSJD Committee hosted an expert meeting of the OSJD Commission on Transport Law on the SMPS issues, which was attended by the representatives of OSJD member countries from the Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Belarus, Hungary, Republic of Kazakhstan, People’s Republic of China, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Latvia, Mongolia, Russian Federation, Slovak Republic, Republic of Tajikistan, Republic of Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Republic of Estonia, as well as of the Railway of Moldova State Enterprise and of the OSJD Committee.

During the period from 5 till 7 March 2024, an expert meeting of the OSJD Commission on Infrastructure and Rolling Stock was held at the OSJD Committee (Warsaw) on subtopic 5.2 “Wagons and Coaches” of subject No. 5 “Rolling stock for railways. Technical requirements as to its elements”, which was attended by the representatives from the following OSJD railways: Byelorussian Railway (BC), Hungarian State Railways Co. (MAV-START Co.), “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy National Company” JSC (KTZ NC JSC), Lithuanian Railways JSC (LTG), Railway of Moldova State Enterprise (CFM), Russian Railways OJSC (RZD OJSC), Railways of the Slovak Republic (ZSR), Ukrainian Railways JSC (Ukrzaliznytsia JSC), as well as from the OSJD affiliated enterprise – Railway Research Institute (Republic of Poland) and the OSJD Committee.

In accordance with the Work Plan of the OSJD Commission on Freight Traffic for 2024 under the subject “Coordination of the volumes of the goods carried in international freight traffic”, the meeting was held in the period from 26 February till 1 March 2024 (OSJD Committee, Warsaw) in a videoconferencing mode of the representatives from the railways and foreign trade organisations of the Republic of Belarus, Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Republic of Kazakhstan, People’s Republic of China, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Mongolia, Russian Federation, Turkmenistan, Republic of Uzbekistan, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and Islamic Republic of Iran for the coordination of the volumes of export, import and transit goods carried by railway transport for 2024 and the measures to ensure them (hereinafter referred to as the meeting).

The regular meeting of the OSJD Committee members No. 1-2024 was held on 23 February 2024 in a hybrid format. Within the framework of the approved agenda, members of the OSJD Committee reviewed and adopted reports on the:

According to the Work Plan of the OSJD Commission on Transport Policy and Development Strategy, from 6 till 8 February 2024, an expert meeting was held at the OSJD Committee (Warsaw) on the subject “Directions for the strategic development of railway transport in OSJD member countries”, which was attended by the representatives of the OSJD member countries from the Republic of Azerbaijan, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Georgia, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Lithuania, Mongolia, Russian Federation, Slovak Republic, Republic of Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Republic of Estonia.

In accordance with the Work Plan of the OSJD Commission on Transport Policy and Development Strategy, on 29-30 January, the first consultative meeting in 2024 of the countries participating in the OSJD Railway Transport Corridor (RTC) No. 1 was held with the participation of the representatives of the countries participating in the OSJD RTC No. 1 from the Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, People’s Republic of China, Mongolia, Russian Federation, Republic of Uzbekistan and Republic of Estonia, as well as the OSJD Committee. Moreover, representatives of the Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) participated as observers.

In accordance with the Work Plan of the OSJD Commission on Passenger Traffic for 2024, from 23 to 24 January 2024 a videoconferencing meeting of the experts of the OSJD railways was held at the OSJD Committee (Warsaw) on the subject “Management of station buildings and passenger railway stations”.
