In keeping with the Work Plan of the OSJD Commission on Transport Policy and Development Strategy for 2021 that pursues, among others, the topic “Designing measures to facilitate border crossing in international railway transport operations in Eurasia,” the OSJD Committee organized and conducted the 9th Interagency Conference “Practices in border crossing by rail transport” in Gdansk, Poland, on 21-22 September 2021. The Conference was held as a combined face-to-face/online videoconference event.
PESA Bydgoszcz SA, a Polish railway vehicle manufacturer and an OSJD Affiliated Enterprise, presented Poland’s first hydrogen-powered four-axle shunting locomotive SM42-6Dn at the TRAKO 2021 14th International Railway Fair in Gdansk, Poland. The locomotive has become a manufactured reality as a result of cooperative efforts by PESA, Polish State Railways JSC (PKP), and PKN Orlen.

In accordance with the Work Plan of the OSJD Commission on Freight Traffic for 2021, in the period from 29 June till 2 July 2021, the OSJD Committee (Warsaw) organised Meeting XXXII of the representatives of the Parties to the Agreement on International Railway Transit Tariff (МТТ) on the subject “Improving the MTT Agreement and updating the MTT Tariff”, which was held in a videoconferencing mode.

The Republic of Cuba is a member of OSJD and has taken an active part in the work of the Organisation since October 1966. However, due to tougher sanctions, changes in the geopolitical situation and, as a consequence, disruption of economic ties, the country’s participation in OSJD activities has been significantly hampered in recent decades.
Session XLIX of the OSJD Ministerial Conference was held from 15 till 18 June 2021 at the OSJD Committee in Warsaw in a videoconferencing mode. The session was attended by the representatives of the delegations of the members of the Ministerial Conference from 22 OSJD member countries, as follows:
