From 18 till 20 May 2022 the city of Leipzig (Germany) hosted the Summit of the International Transport Forum (ITF), which was held under the motto “Transport for Inclusive Societies”. This year’s summit, which was chaired by the Kingdom of Morocco, brought together high-level representatives of ministries and other government organisations, commercial and industrial enterprises, research institutions and international transport organisations from around the world to discuss the issues of how to improve the transport connectivity in order to promote the integration processes in the regions – from local communities, towns and cities to regions on a global scale – and contribute to the achievement of economic, social and environmental goals.

In accordance with the Work Plan of the OSJD Commission on Infrastructure and Rolling Stock for 2022, on 4-6 May 2022, an expert meeting was held in the videoconferencing mode on subtopic 2.2 “Consideration of a set of issues on the track formation and engineering structures” of subject 2 “Railway track and engineering structures”, which was attended by the representatives from the following OSJD railways:

In accordance with the Work Plan of the OSJD Commission on Transport Policy and Development Strategy for 2022, in the period from 19 till 22 April 2022, an expert meeting was held in the format of a videoconference (OSJD Committee, Warsaw) on the subject “Development of measures aimed at facilitating border crossing procedures in international railway traffic in the Eurasian space”, which was attended by the representatives of the OSJD member countries as follows: Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Belarus, Georgia, Republic of Kazakhstan, People's Republic of China, Republic of Latvia, Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation, Republic of Tajikistan, Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as international organisations – the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), the Eurasian Economic Commission (EAEC) and the OSJD Committee.

Today, the Republic of Azerbaijan is paving its way to progressive economic development and large-scale reforms, which are highly appreciated by the people of the country.

The railway line Belgrade – Novi Sad, which is part of the Belgrade-Budapest international fast-speed railway line, was opened for traffic on 19 March 2022.

From 22 till 25 March 2022, in accordance with the Work Plan of the OSJD Commission on Freight Traffic for 2022, a meeting was held in a videoconferencing mode (OSJD Committee, Warsaw) to consider the topics “Updating the Harmonised Nomenclature of Goods (GNG)” and “Updating the Catalogue of Freight Stations of the OSJD Railways”

In accordance with the Work Plan of the OSJD Commission on Freight Traffic for 2022 under the subject “Coordination of the volumes of the goods carried in international traffic by rail”, in the period of 14-18 March 2022 (OSJD Committee, Warsaw), the meeting was held in a videoconferencing mode of the representatives from the railways and foreign trade organisations of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Republic of Kazakhstan, People’s Republic of China, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Mongolia, Russian Federation and Republic of Uzbekistan for the coordination of the volumes of export, import and transit goods carried by railway transport for 2022.

Turkmenistan continues large-scale implementation of projects for the construction and development of transport infrastructure facilities in order to further strengthen and improve the integrated transport system of the country and its integration into the international transport network of the region and of the Eurasian space as a whole for further economic prosperity.

In accordance with the Work Plan of the OSJD Commission on Passenger Traffic for 2022, the OSJD/UIC Workshop “Prospects for the development and interaction of electronic reservation systems” was held in the OSJD Committee (Warsaw) on 28 February 2022 with the use of a videoconferencing mode.

The regular meeting of the Joint Working Group (JWG) for reviewing and converting the OSJD/UIC joint leaflets into draft OSJD/UIC international technical solutions in the field of railway transport was held from 15 till 17 February 2022 in the format of a videoconference.
