Plans are underway to create an agrologistic hub in northern Kazakhstan
The “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy National Company” JSC (“KTZ NC” JSC) and the Chinese state-owned holding company SPSI Cloud Port Development are working on a project to build an agro-logistic hub in Kokshetau (Akmola Region) on an area of 40 hectares, with a processing capacity of 1 million tonnes of goods annually.
The initiative is being implemented as part of a strategic partnership between the operator Kedentransservice (a subsidiary of the “KTZ NC” JSC) and SPSI Cloud Port Development. Plans include the construction of railway infrastructure, warehouses, and container yards, which will enable cargo storage and consolidation, as well as the formation of container trains for the export of agricultural products, primarily from northern Kazakhstan. During the construction phase, it is planned to employ up to 500 people, and once the facility is operational, to create up to 100 permanent jobs.
The partners are also considering a project to establish a China-Kazakhstan dry port in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province. The financial and economic framework, construction phases and timelines, and the port’s operational model were discussed by the parties in January 2026, and at the beginning of February, a roadmap for the project’s implementation was agreed upon, and key tasks for bilateral cooperation in the near future were outlined.
