Meeting of the delegations of the OSJD Committee and the UNECE and signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation (press-release)
On 12 February 2025, the headquarters of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in the Palais des Nations in Geneva (Switzerland) hosted a meeting of the delegations of the OSJD Committee and the UNECE. The delegation of the OSJD Committee was represented by Chairman of the OSJD Committee Mirosław Antonowicz, Chairman of the OSJD Commission on Transport Policy and Development Strategy Shukhrat Kayumkhodjaev and Lawyer of the Committee Sławomir Car, while the UNECE delegation was represented by Executive Secretary Tatiana Molcean and Chief of Transport Networks & Logistics Section at Sustainable Transport Division Francesco Dionori.
The parties discussed the development of cooperation in the field of railway transport, outlined the prospects and key areas of interaction, and signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between UNECE and OSJD.
It was noted that the established dialogue makes it possible to maintain a high level of competence, exchange the experience and work effectively to reduce the number of obstacles in the transportation of passengers and goods.
The parties expressed their desire for further joint work on the harmonisation and unification of railway transport law with international norms and standards, also recorded in UN agreements and conventions, which is aimed at simplifying international transportation and transit.
The Chairman of the OSJD Committee thanked Ms. Tatiana Molcean for the constructive dialogue and expressed hope that cooperation between UNECE and OSJD will continue to develop. He also invited UNECE representatives to take part in OSJD events, including meeting XXXIX of the Conference of General Directors (Authorised Representatives) of OSJD Railways and session LII of the OSJD Ministerial Conference.
