On 5 August 2022, the Chinese city of Qingdao witnessed a demonstration ceremony of high-speed electric multiple units intended for the Indonesian HSR Jakarta – Bandung. In total, 11 high-speed electric trains and 1 diagnostic train will be sent from China to Indonesia. This event marks an important milestone in the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway project.

At the ad hoc meeting of the OSJD Committee members, held on 24 October 2022 in the OSJD Committee in a hybrid format, a large number of documents were considered, which are subject matters of the OSJD Ministerial Conference level which adopts the decisions on them.

From 27 till 28 September 2022, an expert meeting of the OSJD Commission on Infrastructure and Rolling Stock on sub-topic 5.2 “Wagons” of subject No. 5 “Rolling stock for railways.

The ad hoc meeting of the OSJD Committee members was held on 15 September 2022 in a hybrid format due to the still ongoing restrictions in some countries to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

The public train operator Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) has laid the foundation for the sustainable development of Korea’s railway logistics as it conducted a successful trial operation of the Republic of Korea’s first 777-meter long freight train on the Seoul – Busan line.

Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) is upgrading the Sumgayit-Yalama double-track railway line.

The construction of the Fuzhou-Xiamen high-speed trans-sea railway line (HSR) is in full swing in China. With an estimated speed of 350 km/h and a total length of more than 277 km, this high-speed railway line is the China’s first trans-sea HSR and the fastest trans-sea HSR in the world. The construction of high-speed railway lines at sea is associated with the use of a number of the most advanced technologies, especially in the construction of bridges and viaducts.

The joint OSJD-CIT-TRACECA-UIC seminar on the use of the CIM/SMGS consignment note on the TRACECA railway routes passing through Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey (Türkiye) and Kazakhstan was held on 16 June 2022 using the video conferencing mode.

On 13 June 2022 a working meeting took place in the OSJD Committee premises in Warsaw with the delegation of the “KTZ NC” JSC, headed by Batyr Kotyrev, Chief Engineer – Director of the Technical Policy Department, accompanied by Zubaida Aspayeva, Chairperson of the OSJD Commission on Freight Traffic – Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the OSJD Committee, and Yerzhan Araltay, Chief Manager of the Department of Interaction with International Organisations of “KTZ NC” JSC.

The first out of the two ordered shunting locomotives with a hybrid power plant has been delivered to Hungary’s freight operator Rail Cargo Hungaria, an OSJD affiliated enterprise, and part of the ÖBB Federal Railways of Austria holding company. The locomotive will undergo tests required for its certification and operational authorisation.
