On 17 June 2024, a working meeting was held at the OSJD Committee between Chairman of the OSJD Committee Mirosław Antonowicz and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Akhmet Kakabaevich Gurbanov. The working meeting was also attended by Head of the European Countries Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Batyr Allagulyevich Yusubov and First Secretary of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Poland (with residence in Berlin) Ovezgeldi Orazmuhammedovich Dzhumanazarov. 

The Chairman of the OSJD Committee expressed his words of gratitude and deep respect to the Turkmen side for organising and holding meeting XXXVIII of the Conference of General Directors at the highest professional level, for the great attention that President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Government of Turkmenistan pay to cooperation with the OSJD, as well as for the exceptional hospitality during the Conference. The Chairman also noted the importance of participation of the OSJD Committee delegations in various events at the invitation of the Turkmen side, such as the commissioning of the new airport building in Ashgabat (September 2016), the opening of the Imamnazar-Aqina railway section (November 2016), the opening of the second section (Tedjen-Mary) of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabad high-speed motorway (April 2024) and others.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation, Turkmenistan’s participation in OSJD agreements and treaties, as well as possible appointment and forwarding of a representative of Turkmenistan to work at the OSJD Committee, which will contribute to the development of closer interaction and ensure uninterrupted multilateral contacts within the framework of OSJD.
