Meeting of the AWG on the statistical issues in railway transport (press release)
In accordance with the Work Plan of the OSJD Commission on Transport Policy and Development Strategy, a meeting of the AWG on the statistical issues in railway transport was held at the OSJD Committee (Warsaw) from 19 till 20 March 2024, which was attended by the AWG members from: the Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, People’s Republic of China, Republic of Latvia, Slovak Republic, Republic of Uzbekistan, Republic of Estonia, as well as the representatives of the OSJD Committee.
The delegation of the Republic of Poland participated in the meeting as an observer.
The agenda included the following issues:
- consideration and preparation of the table “Main indices of the railways of the OSJD member countries for 2023” for publication in the OSJD Information Guide;
- consideration and approval of the summarised materials on the main performance indicators of the OSJD railway transport corridors Nos. 1-13 for 2023;
- presentation of the new software for generating the statistical data for the “OSJD Bulletin of Statistical Data on Railway Transport for 2023”.
The Chairman of the meeting informed the participants on the progress in obtaining statistical data for the OSJD Information Guide for 2023, noting that the data were not provided by all countries.
The participants agreed upon the summarised “Main indices of the railways of the OSJD member countries” and took a decision to publish the data for 2023 in the OSJD Information Guide.
At the meeting the available data for 2023 and their graphical representation for OSJD railway transport corridors Nos. 1-13 were preliminary agreed upon.
The representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan Vusal Alizade made a presentation on the new software for generating statistical data for the “OSJD Bulletin of Statistical Data on Railway Transport”, which enables to update the information in online mode and to view the data for the previous or selected years and compare them.
The meeting participants addressed the developer with a request to prepare and send detailed instructions on how to fill in the new reporting form. The Chinese party offered to prepare a Chinese version of this software.
