In the course of the meeting the parties discussed the current issues of cooperation and support of OSJD for the development of railway transport and traffic.
Chairman of the OSJD Committee Mirosław Antonowicz noted the great contribution of Mongolia and UBZD JSC to the OSJD activities and development of international railway traffic, and stressed the importance of participation of the representative of Mongolia in the activities of the OSJD Committee and OSJD Commission on Freight Traffic.
Mirosław Antonowicz also noted the great importance and high level of organisation of the International Forum “Mongolia Transport Week 2023” held from 6 to 10 November 2023 in Ulan-Bator, in which he personally took part. At the Forum, in particular, ambitious tasks were set for the country’s railway transport within the framework of the Mongolia Railway Transport Development Plan until 2030, including increasing the length of railway lines from 2020 km to 4680 km, building up the total transport capacity from 36.8 million tonnes to 180 million tonnes per year, and increasing the number of railway corridors passing through Mongolia from one to three.
The delegation of the UBZD JSC, in turn, thanked the OSJD Committee represented by the Chairman for active support to the activities of the UBZD JSC in the field of international railway traffic and informed that the year 2023 was a record year for the freight railway traffic in Mongolia – 32.2 million tonnes of goods were transported. Hope was also expressed that 2024, which marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of UBZD and has been declared the Year of High Standards by the railway, will be even more successful.
