The concept of a high-speed 1520 mm gauge train to be developed in cooperation with Siemens (according to information of the “Zheleznye dorogi mira” Journal)
The Railway Transport Engineering Center JSC (a joint venture of the Russian Railways Holding and the Sinara - Transport Machines JSC) and the Siemens Mobility signed a cooperation agreement on a project for the development and production of a high-speed electric train to be operated on high-speed railway lines in the Russian Federation.
In accordance with the terms of the agreement, the partners intend to conduct technical consultations in order to develop basic concepts for the conceptual design of a new high-speed train for the 1520 mm track gauge area. The work results will be used at the next design stages, for the implementation of which it is planned to conclude other agreements.
When preparing the concepts, the general requirements of Russian Railways for new high-speed train as well as the provisions of the current Russian and international standards will be applied.
According to Albrecht Neumann, General Director for rolling stock of Siemens Mobility, the role of the German partners is to support the Railway Transport Engineering Center JSC in developing one of the most reliable trains for which the energy consumption and maintenance costs are optimized.
According to A. A. Kireitsev, General Director of the Railway Transport Engineering Center JSC, when implementing high-tech projects in mechanical engineering, cooperation with experienced partners significantly reduces the risks of errors at the design and production stages (computer graphics, source: Railway Transport Engineering Center).
