A new train connection from China to Austria is on its way (according to the information of FELB and Sinotrans Limited)
The routes from the Chinese city of Shenyang are not new. The Far East Land Bridge Ltd. (FELB), a subsidiary of the RZD Logistics LLC with a branch in Vienna (Austria) operates the routes to major commercial hubs in Europe like Regensburg, Duisburg, Hamburg, Milan and Warsaw. With the first pilot block train to Enns, a new milestone was laid down.
The train departed from Shenyang on 14 March 2020 and took the Trans-Siberian route, which passes via Manzhouli/Zabaikalsk. Continuing its journey, the train crossed the almost 10,000-km route through Russia in seven days, the lead time that has been projected for this route in accordance with the project “TransSib in 7 days”. The train was formed of 41 x 40-TEU containers carrying raw materials for a global leading Austrian company. The second train departed a few days later and already arrived, as well.
“For the pilot project, we transported raw materials needed for the production in Europe. However, taking into consideration the destination of Enns and surrounding industries, and looking to Shenyang and its infrastructure, this route might also be interesting for other industries. For example, automotive industries and related suppliers, and global acting manufacturers with sites within this region could benefit from this service”, said Jürgen Huschka, FELB Austria’s Managing Director.
In Austria the train arrived at the Container Terminal Enns (CTE) being a trimodal transshipment and located in one of the most developed industrial regions in Austria. Its infrastructure, roads, quays and railway facilities give companies access to all modes of transports.
