The highest growth is observed in the communication between Russia and Mongolia (+16.9%), Russia - Finland (+16%), Russia - Italy - France (+4.4%) and Russia - Germany (+1.3%).

Comfortable trains of the FPC JSC (a subsidiary of the RZD OJSC and an OSJD observer) have been running in communication with the European countries, They are composed of RIC coaches fitted with four-berth sleeping compartments, jointly manufactured by Siemens and TWZ. The wagons provide comfortable berths, sockets in each compartment and a folding table in combination with a sink. All coaches are equipped with an air conditioning system adjusted individually in each compartment, and there are two lavatories in each coach (one fitted with a built-in shower).

The Strizch trains have been running between Russia and Germany since December 2016 on the route Moscow - Berlin. Train is equipped with an automatic gauge changing system. The gauge change is performed in a special facility, equipped with a special device, near the Brest station on the Belarusian-Polish border.

The new technology can significantly reduce the time for changing from a 1520-mm gauge track to a 1435-mm gauge track and vice versa. In the first half of 2019, the Strizh trains on the Moscow- Berlin route transported 29.8 thousand passengers, which is 69% more than during the same period the previous year.

In total, since the beginning of its operation (from 17 December 2016), 88.1 thousand passengers have been transported by this train.

The night trains Lev Tolstoy on the Moscow- Helsinki route and comfortable high-speed Allegro trains with a maximum operational speed of 220 km/h on St. Petersburg-Helsinki route have been running in the Russia-Finland communication. Since the beginning of 2019, the Allegro trains have carried 316.3 thousand passengers, which is 16.6% higher than during the same period of the previous year. In total, they have carried 3.6 million passengers since the beginning of their operation (from 12 December 2010).

According to the results of the first half of 2019, an increase in passenger traffic was recorded in communication with a number of CIS and Baltic countries. In particular, the number of passengers transported between Russia and Tajikistan increased by 3.4%, between Russia and Kazakhstan - by 3.2%, and in the Russia- Azerbaijan traffic - by 1.3%.

According to the train schedule for 2018/2019, international passenger traffic from Russia is organised by direct and transit trains and coaches to 22 countries of Europe and Asia: Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Germany, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, DPRK, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Monaco, Mongolia, Poland, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Finland, France, Czech Republic and Estonia. The trains and through coaches are served by both Russian and foreign carriers.
