Cooperation with the leading operators will help to increase the volume of cargo on this route.”

The top managers of RTSB and LDz Loģistika agreed to start working actively towards the development of new routes between the Port of Riga and the largest ports of Scandinavia and the United Kingdom, thus creating new multimodal one-stop solutions for clients of both European and Asian countries, including China.

“Container transportation is a rapidly developing segment of the market, with the growing role of overland transport by rail. The cooperation agreements with RTSB and DHL Global Forwarding signed this summer will provide Latvia with the opportunity to not only participate in existing routes, but jointly develop new routes that are interesting for all market participants. One of the directions highly interesting for the market at the moment is connection between Asia and Northern European countries, having both highly qualified industrial capacities and high purchasing power that attracts Asian market leaders,” said Verners Lūsis, Chairman of the Board of LDz Loģistika.

The development outlook for container freight segment has been clearly marked by LDz Loģistika’s results of the first six months of 2017. Overall, the company shipped 29% more containers in the first half of the year than during the same period last year, and the company continues to focus on attracting new customers and partners to further develop this segment.
