The official groundbreaking ceremony marking the start of construction, assembling and electrification activities at Molodechno – Gudogai state border railway line took place at Prudy railway station near Molodechno on 24 September 2015.

On 24 September 2015, the Railway Infrastructure Administration of the Czech Republic completed the construction of traction substtions in Rikovice, Stfelna, Usti u Vsetina and Valasske Mezifici. The new converter stations are crucial for ensuring safety and reliable operation on the respective line sections. The need to implement these constructions resulted in particular from increasing requirements to power railway lines safely.

Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius and European Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc inaugurated the first completed section of the Rail Baltica 1435-mm-gauge railway line with a ceremony at Kaunas station on October 16, 2015.

The fourth meeting of the “Russian-Chinese Working Group of enterprises on cooperation in the field of high-speed railways (HSR)”, held on 29^th September 2015 in the city of Chengdu in China, considered the prospects of the high speed railway project Moscow – Vladimir – Nizhny Novgorod – Cheboksary – Kazan. Nowadays the designing works of the line are being performed by the Russian- Chinese consortium of institutions with the participation of Mosgiprotrans JSC, Nizhegorodmetroproekt JSC and China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group Co. Ltd.

On 30 July 2015, the "Eurasian Friendship Express 2015" having departed from Vladivostok Railway Station on 15 July under the slogan "One Dream, One Eurasia" arrived at the Berlin Central railway station, ist final destination. A delegation of 200 citizens of the Republic of Korea made their journey within 15 days from Vladivostok along the Trans-Siberian Railway and then via Moscow, Minsk, Brest and Warsaw to Berlin.

High-speed line Harbin — Chichikar

On 17 August 2015, the train numbered as D7989 departed from the Harbin station, which marks the official start of operation of the highspeed line Harbin - Chichikar. The line runs across the northernmost and coldest regions of China.

The construction of this high-speed line began in 2009, and already in May 2015, trimming operations and tests were commenced. Two months later, a trial run was performed. The total length of the line along which 8 stations are available amounts to 279 km. With the operation of this high-speed line that started, the time of travelling between the cities of Harbin and Chichikar reduced from three hours to one hour and a half (to 85 minutes).

The presentation of a Train Control Centre was held on 7 April 2015 at JSC Georgian Railway. Mamuka Bakhtadze, General Director of JSC Georgian Railway and Aleksi Nikolaishvili, Director of the Freight Transport Branch cut the ribbon in a celebratory atmosphere and congratulated the staff of the Centre on the start of the work in a renewed environment.

Plasser & Theurer (OSJD affiliated enterprise, Austria) has supplied two USP 2010 SWS-U universal ballast distribution and profiling machines to the Polish infrastructure manager PKP PLK.

A draft Strategy for the development of the rail network in 2015-22 and the restructuring of State Railway Company Holding BDZ was published for consultation by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology & Commu­nications of the Republic of Bulgaria on April 7, 2015.
